New Human Rights Report seen through the lense of environmental justice
By Heike Köckler, 2015-02-06
Human Rights Watch recently published its new report. Some facts can be found that are related to environmental injustices around the world. So the exposure of slum population towards tenery emissions in Dhaka, Bangladesh is mentioned (p. 96) and stands for an example for distributional environmental injustice. The arrest of Dr. Talib al-Maamari in Oman due to his activity against pollution (p. 415) can be captured as an example of environmental procedural injustice. As well as the bomb attack to the home of journalist Yofre Lopez Sifuentes in Barranca, Peru who reported critically about pollution of agrobusinesses (p. 433).
