By Götz Kaufmann, 2014-12-24
Future Earth originated from the Global Change Research intitiative to strengthen and substantially concentrate sustainability research in the countries and on the international level.
For the year 2015 the German Committee Future Earth - as part of the German Committee for Sustainability Research (DKN) - released a call to install temporary working groups in order to promote interdisciplinary, integrated research within Future Earth at its 6th meeting in September 2014.
Through the working groups the DKN seeks to support the identification of societal relevant research topics of national interest in Germany and within the international context. Herein, the DKN wants to provide the possibility of the broadest variaty of stakeholders from the related fields.
As the contact person, Dr. Bettina Schmalzbauer, for this initiative at DKN told, the DKN will fund about two to three working groups that are asked to provide detailed advice for after the funded period of no more than 18 months.

Additionally, the EJI received information that one or two proposals for working groups related to environmental justice have been announced to be submitted.
